WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan is heading to the big screen in a big way. According to Deadline, Morgan has landed a key role in the upcoming film Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, directed by the legendary Takashi Miike and set to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The film is a reimagining of the 1992 cult classic Bad Lieutenant, originally starring Harvey Keitel, but with Miike’s signature chaotic and hyper-stylized lens bringing the story to Tokyo. Shun Oguri stars as a corrupt detective spiraling into a world of drugs, violence, and inner torment. Morgan plays the role of a missing politician’s daughter whose disappearance drives the film’s central investigation. The cast also includes Kaito Sakurai, Kōki, and Masataka Kubota.

The project is backed by NEON, the indie studio behind hits like Parasite and Triangle of Sadness, giving it even more prestige buzz. Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is written by Daisuke Tengan (Audition, 13 Assassins) and is being touted as a wild, blood-soaked fever dream that explores the extremes of human behavior in a city that never sleeps.

Morgan’s casting is a massive step for any actor, let alone a full-time WWE star. She now joins the ranks of wrestlers crossing over into arthouse and international cinema, something we rarely see at this level.

This isn’t Liv’s first time acting, but it’s easily her highest-profile gig to date. With her current run in WWE heating up and this kind of movie credit added to her resume, it’s safe to say Liv Morgan is having a moment.
