WWE is taking its biggest event of the year international. Multiple reports have confirmed that WrestleMania 43 in 2027 will be held in Saudi Arabia, marking the first time the Showcase of the Immortals has ever taken place outside of North America.

An Accidental Announcement Confirms WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia

The news first broke following a statement from Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority. Fightful reported his announcement that WrestleMania was indeed coming to the kingdom in 2027.

The situation gained more clarity when Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that an official press release in Arabic had been distributed and then quickly retracted. According to the report, the release was sent out accidentally ahead of the planned announcement. Despite the retraction, Johnson confirmed that the story is "100% legitimate" and an official announcement from WWE is imminent. Adding to the massive news, it was also revealed that the 2026 Royal Rumble will be hosted in Saudi Arabia, further cementing the partnership.

A Star-Studded Spectacle with a Purpose

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the ambition for this historic event is immense. The goal is to present "the most star-studded show ever, by far." With money being no object, the Saudi hosts are reportedly working to bring several of WWE's biggest legends out of retirement for one more match. The names being targeted include The Rock, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels.

The report notes that Saudi Arabia specifically wanted the 2027 date to commemorate the 300-year anniversary of the founding of the first Saudi state. While WWE had apparently preferred to hold the event there in 2028, the significance of the anniversary led to the 2027 agreement.

What This Means for WrestleMania

The deal for this international WrestleMania was reportedly finalized around August 6th. Meltzer also noted that an idea was briefly considered to hold two WrestleMania events in one year to avoid upsetting the domestic fanbase. However, the current presumption is that the Saudi Arabia event will be the sole WrestleMania for 2027.

For WWE fans, this marks a monumental shift. The company's partnership with Saudi Arabia has produced major events for years, but moving its flagship show overseas is a clear signal of its global expansion strategy and the financial power behind the deal. Royal Rumble 2026 is also scheduled for Saudi Arabia. The promise of bringing back legendary figures for the show demonstrates the level of investment being made to ensure this is an unforgettable event.

10 Most Emotional Returns After Career-Threatening Injuries

Mick Foley famously said that wrestling isn't about how many great matches you have... it's how many classic moments you can create. Few moments in pro wrestling can compare to a return after injury, especially when that injury threatens to end a top talent's career far too early.

Just think about the moment Edge returned to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble. His career had been over for nine years, he'd suffered a serious neck injury that require triple fusion surgery... it was an absolute impossibility for Edge to return, right?

"Once the music hit, and that reaction... I mean, I truly feel like I could have beat King Kong's ass," Edge told ESPN about his 2020 surprise return. "It was all surreal, kind of like a dream sequence, but everything's so focused and hyper-focused that I can't really explain it. But I think when you look at the video of me walking out, I think you see it in my eyes."

Iconic moments like these only come once in a while, but they're unforgettable every time! Check out these incredibly emotional moments when wrestlers returned after suffering career-threatening injuries.
