In recent weeks, wrestling fans have been arguing over whether Chris Jericho should return to WWE or continue his run in AEW. Matt Hardy, a veteran of both companies, says AEW fans have had their fill of Jericho and that Y2J should have another big run in WWE.

Jericho's many runs in WWE have been legendary, but he was also instrumental in the early success of AEW. As All Elite Wrestling's first world champion, Jericho brought prestige to the title right away and helped carry the company through its inaugural years.

"I love Chris Jericho and I think Chris has contributed so much to the business over the years," Hardy said on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast. "I just think the AEW fan base has had their share of Chris Jericho in many ways. I think creatively he's done pretty much everything he can do there, unless they want to put him back into the main mix but I don't think the fan base would be up for that, even though they could probably make that work in some capacity. Chris has always been really good at understanding when it's time to go away or take time off and come back and recharge or refresh."

Hardy continues, "I feel like the time is right. I feel like if he came back to WWE it'd be a huge moment, especially in the Royal Rumble. It would be massive. Then I feel like there would be a good run he could do, even if it's his last run and he retires at the end of it like Cena did. I think they would honor him and do right by him and I think it'd be a big deal for WWE, especially in the immediate future."

"I do think Chris could go back there. I think he could work as a character, he could do an amazing run for a year. I think you use him sparingly, you put him in positions to succeed, highlight his strengths as a character, as a talker... and he can still get in the ring and go at a pretty high level."

10 Most Emotional Returns After Career-Threatening Injuries

Mick Foley famously said that wrestling isn't about how many great matches you have... it's how many classic moments you can create. Few moments in pro wrestling can compare to a return after injury, especially when that injury threatens to end a top talent's career far too early.

Just think about the moment Edge returned to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble. His career had been over for nine years, he'd suffered a serious neck injury that require triple fusion surgery... it was an absolute impossibility for Edge to return, right?

"Once the music hit, and that reaction... I mean, I truly feel like I could have beat King Kong's ass," Edge told ESPN about his 2020 surprise return. "It was all surreal, kind of like a dream sequence, but everything's so focused and hyper-focused that I can't really explain it. But I think when you look at the video of me walking out, I think you see it in my eyes."

Iconic moments like these only come once in a while, but they're unforgettable every time! Check out these incredibly emotional moments when wrestlers returned after suffering career-threatening injuries.
