Of all the wrestling legends who descended upon New York City for the SummerSlam week festivities, Jake "The Snake" Roberts may have had the best trip of all.

The WWE Hall of Famer was in town for the WrestleCon fan convention, but he and his wife, Cheryl Roberts, also took the opportunity to explore the Big Apple, and the resulting photos from their trip are truly endearing.

A Taste of New York

It appears a major part of the Roberts' tour of NYC involved sampling some of the city's most famous food. Cheryl documented their culinary journey on her Facebook page, starting with a stop at a world-famous deli. The couple visited Katz's Delicatessen, known for its towering pastrami and corned beef sandwiches.

"Jake & I shared a delicious brisket sandwich at Katz's Delicatessen this afternoon," Cheryl wrote. "The staff and owner, Jake Dell are fans of Jake. Great time meeting all of them."

Of course, no trip to New York is complete without grabbing a slice of pizza. After a boat tour, the duo stopped at a classic Greenwich Village spot. "We chose Bleecker Street Pizza, which was closest to Pier 62 after our boat tour, and it was delicious," Cheryl shared. "Thanks for the recommendations! We will definitely try out the other pizza places next time."

Sightseeing on the Water

In between their famous meals, Jake and Cheryl took in the iconic skyline with a yacht tour around the city. The trip provided some incredible photo opportunities, with the happy couple posing with the Statue of Liberty and the magnificent architecture of Manhattan as their backdrop. It's wonderful to see the legendary wrestler looking so happy and healthy while enjoying the city with his wife.

Who is Cheryl Roberts?

Some wrestling fans, particularly younger ones, may not be familiar with Cheryl Roberts, but she was a fixture on WWE programming in the late 1980s.

She and Jake were married from 1984 to 1996 and have two children together. After decades apart, during which Jake famously battled his personal demons, the two reconnected.

Following his incredible journey to sobriety, aided by his friend Diamond Dallas Page, Jake and Cheryl remarried earlier this year.

Cheryl is best known to WWE fans for her role in a memorable 1988 storyline with her husband and the villainous "Ravishing" Rick Rude. After Rude selected Cheryl from the live crowd for his customary post-match kiss, she revealed her identity as Mrs. Roberts, leading to a brawl between the two wrestlers.

The feud became intensely personal when Rude began wearing tights with Cheryl's face airbrushed on them, enraging Jake and creating one of the hottest rivalries of its time.

10 Most Emotional Returns After Career-Threatening Injuries

Mick Foley famously said that wrestling isn't about how many great matches you have... it's how many classic moments you can create. Few moments in pro wrestling can compare to a return after injury, especially when that injury threatens to end a top talent's career far too early.

Just think about the moment Edge returned to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble. His career had been over for nine years, he'd suffered a serious neck injury that require triple fusion surgery... it was an absolute impossibility for Edge to return, right?

"Once the music hit, and that reaction... I mean, I truly feel like I could have beat King Kong's ass," Edge told ESPN about his 2020 surprise return. "It was all surreal, kind of like a dream sequence, but everything's so focused and hyper-focused that I can't really explain it. But I think when you look at the video of me walking out, I think you see it in my eyes."

Iconic moments like these only come once in a while, but they're unforgettable every time! Check out these incredibly emotional moments when wrestlers returned after suffering career-threatening injuries.
