Real1, formerly known as Enzo Amore in WWE, spoke about the long road his former tag team partner, Big Cass, took to recover from alcohol abuse.

In a new interview with Julian Dorey, Enzo compared Cass’ prior alcohol consumption to Andre the Giant. The famous story is that Andre once drank 117 beers in six hours, and according to Enzo, Cass wasn’t far off.

"I saw a guy try to kill himself in my tag team partner, Big Cass, with alcohol that you can't imagine being consumed. I'm talking about Andre the Giant shit,” Enzo said.

“I’m doing an autograph signing in Chicago with Big Cass. The next day, I fly home. My phone's ringing from his mom. She's calling me, I answer. She goes, 'Yeah, I share locations with Cass. I have his location. He hasn't left Chicago.' I'm like, 'What? What the fuck do you mean? We just did a signing last night.' He was supposed to be on a flight.’”

The former cruiserweight champion continued, “I call my homies in Chicago to go check on him at the hotel room. Dude, I'm FaceTiming him. Bro, there's fucking two 30 racks between the time that I saw Cass at 10pm at night and this next morning. He's cleared two 30 racks, three bottles of Jack, cases of wine… No human can drink this much except for fucking Andre the Giant and probably Big Cass. He’s 400 pounds, he’s out of shape, he’s trying to kill himself.”

Cass, who now wrestles as Big Bill in AEW, thankfully found his sobriety and was able to completely turn his life around.

Enzo said about the magnitude of Cass’ recovery, “He found an angel in his wife, Lexy. I didn’t think there was any coming back from this for him ... He had a seizure and nearly died from an OD from alcohol. You can’t quit alcohol cold turkey. My man tried to quit cold turkey… seizured out.”

“What he’s managed to do since he left WWE is far greater than what you can achieve in a wrestling ring," Enzo added. "He’s helps people, bro. People DM him and he answers. It’s heart wrenching.”

In related news, Jeff Hardy recently announced he was three years sober.

Real1 is scheduled to make an appearance at ACW’s Mischief Night on Oct. 18. Click here to grab tickets to the Poughkeepsie, NY show.

10 Most Emotional Returns After Career-Threatening Injuries

Mick Foley famously said that wrestling isn't about how many great matches you have... it's how many classic moments you can create. Few moments in pro wrestling can compare to a return after injury, especially when that injury threatens to end a top talent's career far too early.

Just think about the moment Edge returned to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble. His career had been over for nine years, he'd suffered a serious neck injury that require triple fusion surgery... it was an absolute impossibility for Edge to return, right?

"Once the music hit, and that reaction... I mean, I truly feel like I could have beat King Kong's ass," Edge told ESPN about his 2020 surprise return. "It was all surreal, kind of like a dream sequence, but everything's so focused and hyper-focused that I can't really explain it. But I think when you look at the video of me walking out, I think you see it in my eyes."

Iconic moments like these only come once in a while, but they're unforgettable every time! Check out these incredibly emotional moments when wrestlers returned after suffering career-threatening injuries.
