Yes, Crowbar (The Wrestler) is a Huge Fan of Crowbar (The Band)
We recently had the honor of sitting down with a true veteran of the game, the legendary Crowbar. With 34 years in the business, Crowbar is still going strong, balancing his in-ring career with another full-time job: physical therapy.
"Throughout high school, college, I simultaneously pursued pro wrestling and physical therapy," Crowbar told us. "It's been really, really convenient. Once WCW ended, I went from being full-time pro wrestler, part-time physical therapist to full-time physical therapist, part-time wrestler."
His Dual Career and Pre-Match Routine
Crowbar said that while he's happy to offer advice on training or rehab if asked, he doesn't go around the locker room correcting people's stretches. "I'm kind of here just... this [is] my fun, safe place," he explained.
At 51 years old, his own preparation has changed significantly from his early days. "When I was a full-time student, I would... get to the show, change, and go right on," he said. "Now, it's a much more lengthy process... a lot more stretching, extensive stretching and warming up to get that car ready to drive. But, when it's ready to drive, it goes."
Yes, Crowbar Listens to the Band Crowbar
We had to ask the question on every metalhead's mind: is the wrestler Crowbar a fan of the legendary sludge-metal band Crowbar?
"They're one of my favorites," he confirmed. "I am familiar with Crowbar. I've seen them live on several occasions. I text and message quite frequently with Matt Brunson from Crowbar and I really enjoy the music a whole lot... Live is amazing."
Crowbar's Ultimate Survivor Series Team
With the holidays approaching, we brought up the Survivor Series, a pay-per-view that holds a special place in Crowbar's heart.
"Survivor Series is super important to me. It was the first pay-per-view that I was able to wear my parents down and get them to buy for me," he shared.
We asked him to captain his own ultimate five-man team. His picks were a fantastic mix of favorites and peers.
- Macho Man Randy Savage ("My favorite wrestler of all time.")
- Danny Doring
- Norman Smiley ("Possibly the most fun I've ever had in a wrestling match.")
- Sabu
WCW Memories and Nostalgic Gifts
During his time in WCW, Crowbar was famously paired with David Flair and Daffney. We asked if he still keeps in touch with Flair.
"I have not unfortunately," Crowbar said. "Great guy. We had no kind of falling out but from what I understand he's just very disenfranchised with the wrestling business as a whole... I would love to see him... But no heat, no nothing like that. I just know he just wants nothing to do with the business."
Finally, we asked about his most nostalgic wrestling-related Christmas gift. "One of my favorite games was WCW World Championship Wrestling for the first Nintendo," he said. "It was, I thought, way better than the Nintendo wrestling... You had guys like Kevin Sullivan and Sting and Ric Flair and Dr. Death Steve Williams, the Road Warriors. It was chock-full of just great talent
