CM Punk Pitches Rom-Com Idea With Dave Bautista
CM Punk isn’t just back in the wrestling spotlight—he’s already eyeing his next onscreen partner, and no, it’s not anyone on the WWE roster. Speaking to Deadline, Punk expressed his desire to work with fellow former WWE Champion turned Hollywood powerhouse Dave Bautista—in a romantic comedy, no less.
“I’m dying to work with Dave Bautista,” Punk said. “I think he’s great. I would love to do a movie with him. I think it would be hilarious if we did a rom-com together. What if we were romantically involved?”
While the tone was light and tongue-in-cheek, the sentiment came across as genuine. Punk praised Bautista’s acting chops and versatility and made it clear that he admires the path Bautista has taken in building a legitimate film career.
“He is amazing. I think he’s a great actor,” Punk added. “And I think that’s a guy who really shed the stigma of, ‘Oh, he’s a wrestler, he’s not an actor.’ I think he’s a f---ing great actor.”
Punk himself has dabbled in acting, appearing in shows like Heels and horror films like Girl on the Third Floor. But a rom-com with Dave Bautista would be a major shift in genre—and one that would definitely get people talking.
Elsewhere in the interview, Punk talked about the thrill of coming out to Living Colour performing live in the WrestleMania main event:
The best way I can describe it is that it’s like a dream because I have recollection, I know I was there last night. I remember walking down the ramp and Living Colour playing my music, but you can’t hear, and things are kind of foggy. Everything is just loud, and there’s like white noise behind you. It’s ethereal. I dreamed of doing this ever since I was a little kid, and the moment was there, and I was doing my best to live in it. And it’s just like everything’s happening at the speed of light, but I’m trying to slow it down. It’s quite the experience. Before I turn the switch on and I’m backstage alone, I try to meditate a little. But once you see me on camera, it’s go time.
