Charlotte Flair Gets Emotional Discussing Divorce from Andrade for the First Time
WWE superstar Charlotte Flair recently opened up about her divorce from fellow wrestler Andrade El Idolo during an emotional appearance on the Sherri Shepard's talk show. This marks the first time Flair has publicly addressed the split, which was finalized in October 2024 after she filed in June of the same year.
Reflecting on the end of her marriage, Flair expressed profound feelings of personal and professional failure. She candidly shared, "I felt like I was failing at my job. I felt like I was failing at my personal life. And the embarrassment of being divorced again."
The weight of public perception, especially comparisons to her father, wrestling legend Ric Flair, added to her distress. Her father had been unsuccessfully married five times. She admitted, "When I made the decision to file for divorce, the only thing I kept thinking was I just didn’t want anyone to know."
The timing of the divorce coincided with a challenging period for Flair. In December 2023, she suffered a severe knee injury, sidelining her from competition. This hiatus provided her with an opportunity for introspection. Despite the personal and professional setbacks, Flair made a triumphant return by winning the women's Royal Rumble in February 2025, securing her spot at WrestleMania 41.
Flair emphasized the importance of embracing vulnerability and finding self-worth amidst adversity. She stated, "It’s okay not to be okay." Her journey underscores her resilience and determination to overcome personal challenges while continuing to excel in her wrestling career.
Flair is scheduled to challenge for the WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania 41, and is the favorite to win the match. All hail the queen!
