Becky Lynch and MJF Swap Friendly Jabs Over Their Roles in Happy Gilmore 2
Ahead of her unsuccessful attempt at dethrowning the Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria, Becky Lynch chatted with Variety about life outside the ring. The Man will appear in Happy Gilmore 2 this summer on Netflix, and she is not the only wrestler on the call sheet. Maxwell Jacob Friedman — better known as MJF — also landed a part.
When asked if she crossed paths with MJF on set, Lynch answered with a grin:
“I did. You know, a very nice boy. Great chats. Of course, he knows he’d lose at [a promo battle], but we had great chats. Unfortunately, it was way before this happened, but I feel like he would completely agree with everything that I’m saying about Lyra.”
MJF responded on X with a light‑hearted note of his own:
“Agree with Becks fully on Lyra, she seems like a horrible person and clearly a gross poor.
Enjoyed my time with ‘the man’ on set. A very nice girl and an upstanding citizen.
However….. not too sure about her thoughts on a potential promo battle 😉 #BetterthanYou”
Rather than their usual razor‑sharp trash talk, both comments landed as playful ribbing—proof that even two of wrestling’s best talkers can keep it friendly when Hollywood calls.
Fans immediately began fantasy‑booking a promo duel that would set social media ablaze.
A Busy Summer for Both Stars
Happy Gilmore 2 is scheduled to hit Netflix later this summer. Lynch also has a role in the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series, while MJF is currently on AEW TV every week, eyeing a spot in the Hurt Syndicate faction.
Whether or not a promo showdown ever happens, the crossover of two of wrestling’s sharpest mouths in an Adam Sandler universe already feels like money. Stay tuned for release details and keep an eye on social media. If the tweets are this spicy now, imagine the red‑carpet banter.
