Several stars from All Elite Wrestling took a break from the ring to hit the red carpet for the premiere of the new Naked Gun reboot, bringing a bit of wrestling flair to Hollywood. The trio of Orange Cassidy, HOOK, and Chuck Taylor represented AEW at the high-profile event.

The appearance was notable given the current status of each wrestler. Orange Cassidy is on the injured list, while the former FTW Champion HOOK has not been featured on television since the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Chuck Taylor, meanwhile, has been contributing to the company behind the scenes in a producer role while also recovering from injury.

AEW proudly shared photos of their stars' appearance on social media. The group was seen mingling with other celebrities, including the film's own Paul Walter Hauser, who is a well-known wrestling fan and has competed in the ring himself, and the legendary "Weird Al" Yankovic.

The new Naked Gun is a legacy sequel to the classic slapstick franchise. The film stars Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's iconic bumbling detective. He is joined by Pamela Anderson, who plays a femme fatale named Beth, whose brother's murder Drebin is investigating. The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane, a team that aims to revive the beloved spoof comedy series for a modern audience. WWE star Cody Rhodes has cameo in the film as a bartender.

Early reactions from the premiere have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising its high joke-per-minute ratio and a return to form for the genre. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 1, 2025.

10 Wrestlers Who Landed Roles in Superhero Movies

Who on earth didn't mark out when Macho Man Randy Savage suddenly appeared as the badass 'Bonesaw' in Spiderman? "Bonesaw is ready!!!"

Superhero movies were practically built for wrestling's most legendary performers. It's true that Hulk Hogan was unable to translate his explosive in-ring success into box office gold, but performers like Jesse Ventura and Rowdy Roddy Piper did prove that wrestlers could carry major roles in action films like Predator and They Live!

At the turn of the millennium, as the Marvel and DC Universes birthed some of the most profitable film franchises of all time, wrestlers like Dave Bautista and The Rock would nab starring roles as some of cinema's most powerful heroes. In turn, long forgotten pro wrestlers would experience career rejuvenations thanks to their god-given size and ability to connect with an audience.

Whether it be 'Drax' in the multi-billion dollar franchise Guardians of the Galaxy or 'Claw' in a Hong Kong superhero sequel you've probably never heard of, we're still popping whenever a WWE favorite makes an appearance on the silver screen.
